Hunting Pheasants in SD
Have you experienced the thrill of a good pheasant hunt? Just the sound of a pheasant taking wing can get your blood rushing. Pheasants make for a great hunt. In colder weather it can be challenging to flush them up for a shot. On a warm sunny fall day it is quite enjoyable to walk corn fields in hopes of flushing some great shots. After a day of pheasant hunting nothing is better than a meal of pheasant to top off the day.

The Ring-necked Pheasant was introduced into North America for hunting purposes. Its original range was eastern Europe and Asia. From there, birds were introduced to Britain and other European countries. It is now established across southern Canada and the northern half of the USA. In Alberta, it is present in the grassland and southern parkland region, with outlier populations in the Grand Prairie and Peace River areas.

HARRISBURG, Pa., April 25 /PRNewswire/ -- While the Pennsylvania Board of Game Commissioners just gave approval to the 2006 youth pheasant hunt - Oct. 7-13 - Carl G. Roe, agency executive director, noted that now is the time for hunting clubs interested in hosting a youth pheasant hunt to begin making plans. In addition to the 15,000 birds that the agency plans to release statewide prior to the opening of youth season, Roe has pledged to reinstate the set-aside of an extra 1,500 birds for clubs that host a youth pheasant hunt.
